The holiday season usually means investing in festive looks that sometimes make an appearance exactly once. While of course you’ll still want a metallic piece or two, this year take your cues from our latest lookbook and pair the usual holiday suspects with luxe separates and a few unexpected casual pieces. “Try pairing your boyfriend jeans with some really glitzy glammy shoes like embellished Manolo Blahniks — it’s the perfect juxtaposition,” says Style & Editorial Director Ashley Munns. “If you go bold with your outfit, take it down a notch with simple accessories,” she suggests. These looks will not only take you from holiday party to afterparty, they’ll work with your wardrobe through winter.
For him, Munns suggests wool suits and sleek shoes as holiday style staples. “A wool suit by Tom Ford is snazzy and festive and is a great investment — wear a crisp white shirt and a skinny tie to complete the look. It’s always fun to throw some shine on with patent shoes or a pair of crisp clean white tennis shoes when appropriate. And don’t forget about your accessory game: “Scarves are a fun way to play up your look. As a guy you are limited with ways you can accessorize and a scarf is a sure fire way to bring some class to your look. Plus, your date will most likely appreciate it. Go for a tonal look with silver on silver, or try a nice floral Loro Piana pattern to prove your manliness.”
