Looking forward to bundling up in supersoft cashmere and chunky fisherman knits is arguably one of the best things about fall. But how do you keep a tried and true classic feeling new? Our latest lookbook showcases some answers, and Editorial Director Lauren Bradshaw shares her take on this season’s chicest sweater looks.
Knits are so cozy and fine jewelry can seem like it’s reserved for super special occasions, but in this lookbook, they coexist. What are your tips for pairing them? Jewelry and knits look awesome together! There’s something so effortlessly chic about a chunky turtleneck with an oversized earring — consider the Gucci show where we saw fisherman sweaters with pearl necklaces and statement rings. But a tip for styling: keep your sweater in mind when picking jewelry pieces. An understated pendant necklace may get completely overshadowed by a oversized knit. Pair fine knits with delicate pieces, but go bolder if your sweater is bulky.
What’s your favorite new way to style knits? I have a soft spot for turtlenecks in particular. I like pairing mine with large earrings, a white sneaker and high-waisted pants or jeans, tucking in the sweater slightly in the front.
If you could take one piece from the shoot home with you what would it be? I love the bell sleeves on the Derek Lam sweater. Fun for date night, but also chic for the office.
Who are designers you think are killing it with knitwear? Ryan Roche. Classic, cool, relaxed but elegant, and the color palettes she works with are dreamy. I was obsessed with her Spring 2017 presentation.
Fine rib or chunky knit? Can I have both? I love a good ’70s-inspired fine rib, but I’m all about the chunky knit for lounging.
